The Nomos Law Group guides clients through the process of getting an employment visa.
Are you planning to work in the United States? If it is a permanent move, you need an employment-based or sponsored visa. The document is a requirement for you to stay and work in the country permanently.
Also known as a Green Card, foreigners who have this are subject to lesser restrictions compared to temporary workers and nonimmigrant visa holders.
The challenge is that there are so many types of visas. You cannot afford to make a mistake in your application because this takes a long time. The government only releases a limited number of employer-sponsored visas. The last thing you want is to make a mistake and start over.
Boston employment-based immigrant lawyers at the Nomos Law Group are knowledgeable about the entire process. We can help analyze your situation and point you in the right direction. And that starts with knowing the type of visa you should apply for.
The U.S. Government provides 140,000 employment-based immigrant visas every fiscal year (October 1st to September 30th). That number is distributed among several types of visas, including:
When applying for an EB-2 or EB-3 employer-sponsored work visa, a job offer must already be in place. The company should have an official invitation to the foreign worker to come to the United States for work. You also need the prescribed quality of education, skills, and work experience to be eligible for permanent working status in the country. Once you meet all those requirements, the employer will need to file an immigrant petition on your behalf.
With all the requirements and complexity of the entire process, it is easy to get lost. You can miss out on some details, derailing the entire application. If you are having trouble with your employer-sponsored immigrant visa application, you can seek help from our experienced employment-based immigrant lawyers.
If you are already in Boston and are trying to get an employer-sponsored immigrant visa, our lawyers can help. Beyond advising you on what visa to apply for, we can show you how to prepare for it.

The EB-2 visa is for foreign workers holding a master’s degree or other advanced degrees in their field. They need to be sponsored by a company that has a specific requirement for this expertise.
Alternatively, the applicant can also have a bachelor’s degree along with five years of post-baccalaureate experience in the field or industry.
Also included in this category are foreign individuals who possess exceptional abilities in science, art, or business. Their skills should be significantly above average, and the country will benefit from their presence.
The EB-3 visa is provided to skilled foreign workers with at least two years of training or experience in the field. Any post-secondary education can be considered if they are relevant to the position.
A professional is someone who has a U.S. baccalaureate degree or foreign equivalent and is currently practicing.
Other workers are those who perform unskilled labor requiring less than two years of training or experience. The job should not be seasonal or temporary in nature.
